FLOTUS – Michelle Obama Talks Health and Obesity With Dr. Oz

Tuning into the Dr. Oz Show on Fox 5 here in NYC, very excited that today’s guest is our First Lady of The United States (FLOTUS) – Mrs. Michelle Obama.  Our FLOTUS is talking about the fact that obesity is a national crisis and is our #1 health issue.  She has been very vocal in her efforts to combat obesity, get our children moving and eating better; which in my opinion is a good thing.  But of course she has received a lot of backlash from certain individuals claiming that she is taking the fun out of food, along with a lot of other nonsense.

This obesity problem that we are facing here in the United States is real, and for our FLOTUS to take on this issue is a phenomenal thing.  Not only has she been helping American families understand the importance of a well balanced diet, but the need for exercise as well.  She has implemented changes within her household as well, I was moved when she spoke of how a routine visit to the girls doctor was what opened her eyes after hearing that their body mass index (BMI) had changed dramatically.  This is when she began to make changes, such as eating out less, doing more activites that involved movement, started a fruit and vegetable garden to understand how food is grown, and engaged the children in the project.  In the words of our FLOTUS “this is all about balance.”

I’m not 100% sure but I feel like this was her first appearance since the re-election of President Barack Obama, an as usual she looks amazing!  As she took the stage she said “thank you for having me, this is really cool.”  Our FLOTUS is really cool, and it feels so good to see and hear her speak, she never disappoints.  She is the BEST First Lady ever, so relatable, lovable and real.  She is now onstage jumping rope with Dr. Oz, gotta love her:)  Thank you Mrs. Obama, You Rock!

FLOTUS just made a big announcement, new legislation has been passed which will now improve the school lunch program for our children; this is the first change in like 13 or 15 years.
